Want to create a memorable design moment in your home? Start in the entryway, where first impressions are key. As Ruth Mottershead, creative director for Little Greene, explains, "Entryways set the mood." These spaces are often seen through open doorways or between rooms, making them perfect for versatile, refined, and inviting colors that blend seamlessly with various complementary shades and finishes.
Instead of treating entryways as purely functional spaces, she suggests incorporating them into your overall design scheme with a color that reflects your unique style.
Here are four of the finest entryway paint colors that enhance a space, making it both inviting and stylish.

Madeleine by Little Greene
Mottershead is particularly fond of Madeleine, a new color from the brand’s recently introduced Sweet Treats Collection. She describes the soft gold Madeleine as a refined honey hue that brings tranquility and warmth. A modern take on traditional cream tones, Madeleine is both subtle and delightfully sweet,” she explains.
This color features a yellow base, softened with a touch of brown, creating a welcoming and comforting tone perfect for entryways.

Yeabridge Green by Farrow and Ball
For those with a more traditional design style, Patrick O’Donnell, global brand ambassador for Farrow and Ball, recommends painting your entryway in Yeabridge Green. He says, “There’s nothing more generous than a splash of vibrant green to welcome you and your guests into the hall, and Yeabridge Green offers just that! It’s a lively, uplifting green that pairs wonderfully with pictures and brown furniture.”
He suggests combining this shade with a complementary white, like James White, for the trim. This off-white hue has a subtle green undertone and a creamy finish.

Lute by Little Greene
Alternatively, if you’re seeking a dark, contemporary shade that still exudes warmth, Mottershead recommends Lute. This hue is perfect for creating a seamless flow from room to room. “Try using the soft Lute on the walls, paired with the dark grey-green of Pompeian Ash and accents of Slaked Lime for a subtle yet captivating monochromatic look that adapts through the seasons,” she advises.

London Stone by Farrow and Ball
If your home embraces a more neutral aesthetic, London Stone is a great option for your entryway. O’Donnell explains, “If too much color feels overwhelming in your hall, turning to earth tones like London Stone provides neutrality without feeling dull. This warm, mid-neutral shade complements both limestone flooring and wood beautifully. Pair it with a soft white on your trim, moldings, and ceiling, such as our red-tinged Dimity, to create a space that is both serene and welcoming.”
