Hey there, parents (or future parents!), I'm Heather, and as I write this, my son is just over 1.5 years old, with a baby girl arriving in May 2024. (Exciting!) Many of these products have been personally tested by me. I'm thrilled to share what has worked wonders for my family, but I also want to acknowledge that every baby is unique. What worked for us might not work for you, but it's always worth a try, right?

Honestly — my little one refused to use a pacifier even for a moment, but that doesn’t mean your baby (or my next one) won’t adore them!
1. A touchless forehead thermometer equipped with a built-in sensor, making it effortless to check your child's temperature. Ideal for cautious parents who find themselves monitoring their little one's temp at the slightest hint of a flush (yes, that’s me).

Promising review: "This thermometer is fantastic — precise, stylish, and essential! If you’re a parent, skip the ear thermometers. As a mom of four, I can confidently say this is a must-have. Simply hold it near the forehead, press a button, and get a reading in just one second. It’s sleek, reliable, and accurate. We’ve tried various thermometers before. The forehead scanners? Ineffective. Ear thermometers? Accurate but a struggle. Rectal thermometers? Extremely accurate but a full-on battle. This one is by far the easiest to use. It’s perfect for those quick 'I’m not feeling well' moments...like when dad gets a man cold. Highly recommend it!"—BearDownChi1
Available on Amazon for $22.98.
2. A pack of calming stick-on gel pads, an essential for cold and flu season — designed to fit kids' foreheads and deliver cooling comfort for up to eight hours.

Each box includes four sheets.
Promising review: "An essential in my home! I absolutely ADORE this product. With a 3-year-old and a 6-year-old, it’s a lifesaver! For stubborn fevers, I place one sheet on their forehead and cut a second sheet in half (one for their back, another for their stomach). If the fever is severe, I’ll cut it into quarters (applying to underarms and inner thighs) to target the main heat areas. My kids sleep comfortably with them on. They stay cool for around five hours and remain cooler than room temperature for an additional two hours. Removing them is painless — much easier than a bandage! They’re also perfect for minor injuries. When my 3-year-old bumped his face on the coffee table, I simply cut a strip to size, stuck it on the sore spot, and problem solved!" —Gracie's Choice

I own this Bugaboo stroller, and I can confidently say it’s worth every penny. The brand consistently impresses me, making my life as a new mom so much easier.
It’s incredibly lightweight (only 16 pounds) and opens/closes effortlessly. With just two buttons, it unfolds like magic. My husband and I were amazed at how easy it was to assemble and how compact it is when folded. The Butterfly is also ideal for city dwellers or those with limited space.
It comes with a strap, so you can sling it over your shoulder — perfect for travel or quick trips to the car. I’ve taken my son to visit my parents in North Carolina multiple times, and it fits perfectly in the overhead compartment. The wheels handle bumps and debris smoothly. We’ve been using it for errands and outings instead of our bulkier stroller. Overall, it’s an excellent stroller, and I highly recommend it to new parents!
Available from Bugaboo for $449 (three colors, ships within three weeks) or from Amazon for $449 (three colors).
41. A bamboo muslin swaddle featuring a whimsical mushroom print that’s perfect for passing down from one child to the next — its stylish design also doubles as a great backdrop for spontaneous photo sessions with your little one! It’s incredibly soft, breathable, and versatile, ideal for cuddling, nursing, as a burp cloth, or even as a stroller cover.

Dolly Lana is a woman-owned small business offering unique, eco-friendly products for parents and kids. The founder, Sara, is a former operating nurse and a proud mom of three.
Available from Dolly Lana for $22 and explore all their other swaddle designs while you’re there.
42. A washable rug for your child’s bedroom or playroom — you might think, "That’s not a parenting product," but BELIEVE ME, it is. You’ll be overjoyed to peel off the top (filthiest) layer and throw it straight into the wash after witnessing the chaos your little one can create.

I have a Mickey Mouse rug in my toddler’s room, but my sister (who owns three large dogs) has truly tested the durability of these rugs. Within a week of getting one, she managed to clean blood, poop, and coffee off it without leaving a single stain. Now *that’s* a must-have for your kid’s room. We also have one in our bathroom and in my husband’s garage-turned-office — trust me, this is essential for any space.
Available from Ruggable for $129+ (11 sizes and two styles).
43. A chic yet durable reversible play mat that’s thick enough for your little ones to learn to crawl or roll on, yet sturdy enough to withstand future toy car races and block-building sessions — it’s also comfy enough for parents to lie on for a well-deserved midday break. 😅

I have this mat in my son’s playroom, and it’s been a lifesaver for our family. It’s soft yet supportive (if that makes sense), and I love how it doubles as decor. While I’m not an all-beige-everything parent, I appreciate when kid-friendly products blend seamlessly into my home! These mats are also great because you can easily wipe them clean or give them a quick Lysol spray after playdates. I’ve definitely spent time lying on it myself and can confirm it’s super comfy (great for the back, you know?). They come in various sizes and patterns, so you’re sure to find one that fits your home perfectly.
