The indulgent services, the cozy beds, and the well-appointed rooms make you wish you could enjoy that vacation-like feeling every day. While that’s not feasible, there are certain elements of hotel design that you can easily incorporate into your own home. From sophisticated touches to thoughtful details, achieving a luxury vibe doesn’t require major overhauls or a hefty budget. In fact, it’s easier than surviving a hotel check-in. Here are five hotel-inspired design ideas to make your home feel more upscale and inviting.
Charging Station by the Bed

There’s something special about waking up in a beautiful hotel room with a fully charged phone. While you may not be able to enjoy that experience every morning, you can at least ensure your phone is charged and ready to go, says interior designer Andrea DeRosa.
“Wireless charging and integrated charging stations have long been staples in hotels, and now we’re starting to see these features in residential settings from well-known retailers,” she explains. “For instance, Crate and Barrel offers a stylish sconce and nightstand combination with built-in charging. This piece perfectly captures the essence of hotel-inspired design.”
Smart Window Treatments

Picture yourself in bed after a tiring day, ready to drift off into a deep slumber. Then, you remember the shades or blinds are still open, and if you don’t get up to close them, the morning sun will disturb your sleep way too early. Some hotels have solved this issue, and you should consider doing the same. Whether through a traditional remote or a smartphone app, DeRosa notes that automation is taking over residential design, including window treatments.
“Window treatments are a prime example of hotel-inspired amenities, having long been a luxury feature in hotel rooms and suites. We particularly love collaborating with the Shade Store for motorized window treatments in residential spaces,” DeRosa shares.
Built-In Bluetooth Speakers

“Bluetooth-enabled audio systems are another trend in this direction. I recently stayed at Portrait Firenze, where the speakers were Bluetooth-enabled, allowing us to stream music directly from our phones,” DeRosa recalls.
Remember, the luxury of integrated Bluetooth technology shouldn’t be confined to spaces like living rooms and bedrooms. DeRosa points out that one of the best places for a built-in Bluetooth speaker is in your showerhead or even in the ceiling vents of your bathroom.
Touch-Free Faucets

Whether you’re at a luxury hotel or enjoying a meal at a fine restaurant, you’ve probably noticed how convenient and hygienic touch-free faucets can be. They’re a great addition to any sink, from the bathroom to the kitchen. “Touch-free faucets are becoming increasingly popular in homes,” says DeRosa. “Originally designed for industrial and high-traffic spaces, these fixtures have evolved significantly, and now there are elegant, streamlined options available for residential use.”
Refillable Bathroom Bottles

The days of seeing those tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner in hotel bathrooms are dwindling, with many hospitality groups opting for larger, refillable bottles seamlessly mounted in the shower. While this ultimately saves money and likely means fewer guests calling housekeeping after using too much shower gel, these integrated, refillable bottles also create a sleeker, more luxurious bathroom aesthetic. This trend is becoming far more popular and is an affordable touch that’s easy to integrate into any bathroom.
