In the early 2000s, I was diagnosed with rosacea subtype 2 — the papulopustular type, which causes acne-like bumps — and finding products that don’t aggravate my rosacea has been an ongoing struggle.

These are the select few products I trust on my skin now. My face is clearer than ever since I started dealing with rosacea, and maybe these could help improve yours too.
1. First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

After switching to this creamy, whipped cleanser years ago, my skin has become less oily, less irritated, and never feels tight after washing. Unlike other gentle cleansers like Cetaphil that left my face feeling dirty, this one effectively removes makeup and sunscreen without causing discomfort. Every time I experiment with another cleanser, I end up regretting it and always return to this one. It’s fragrance-free, so there’s no risk of irritation from a wash-off product that doesn’t need to have a scent. Along with aloe and glycerin, it also features skin-calming ingredients like allantoin, feverfew, green tea, licorice root extract, and vitamin E. While the effectiveness of these ingredients in a wash-off product may be debatable, I prefer having them over the alternatives, especially considering the irritation I’ve experienced with other cleansers. Plus, the brand offers travel-friendly sizes, so I never have to settle for hotel soap or whatever a friend might have in their bathroom.
Get it from Sephora for $12+ (available in three sizes).
2. E.l.f. Holy Hydration Hydrating Serum

Dear Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream offers a refreshing, hydrating experience for the skin.

Neocutis Lumière Firm Illuminating and Tightening Eye Cream is designed to brighten and firm the delicate skin around the eyes.

Although I haven't experienced rosacea flare-ups around my eyes (at least, not yet), I often find that most eye creams lead to dryness and flaking along my lash line. Some even tend to slide down to my cheeks, triggering rosacea irritation. However, this deeply hydrating cream has proven different. I discovered it on sale a few months ago and have been praising it ever since. A small amount is enough, so my first bottle is still lasting. It contains human growth factors—proteins naturally produced by skin cells, although they decrease as we age. These factors may help boost collagen and elastin production, which can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The formula also includes peptides, which enhance the effect of HGFs, alongside caffeine for reducing puffiness, bisabolol for calming, and glycyrrhetinic acid for brightening. I honestly saw an immediate improvement in the brightness of my under-eye area.
Available at Dermstore for $114.
5. Supergoop City Serum SPF 30

Having tried countless sunscreens throughout my life with rosacea, this is without a doubt the best daily option I’ve found. It’s light, hydrating, and non-greasy, effortlessly sinking into my skin. Yet, I can feel its broad-spectrum protection working, as my usual cheek redness has nearly vanished, despite my constant exposure to the intense Miami sun. The formula contains antioxidants like vitamins E and B5 and soothing ingredients such as allantoin, all while avoiding a long list of potential irritants. For me, it's the ideal blend of effectiveness and simplicity.
Get it from Dermstore for $48.
6. The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

For years, a 15% concentration of azelaic acid has been a common prescription treatment for rosacea, with clinical studies indicating it can reduce bumps and swelling. I’ve used the prescription versions in the past and found them effective. Now that my breakouts are better under control, I use this 10% version from The Ordinary whenever I need a little extra assistance with irritation or want to maintain daily care. While there are other over-the-counter azelaic acid products available, I prefer this one because it focuses solely on the azelaic acid, along with a few preserving and enhancing ingredients and a small dose of vitamin E, without any other potentially irritating actives or unnecessary multitasking.
Available at Sephora for $12.20+ (offered in two sizes).
7. La Roche Posay Anthelios AOX daily antioxidant serum SPF 50

8. Coola Organic Dew Good Illuminating probiotic serum with SPF 30
