Airless Paint Sprayers

For smaller painting tasks around the house, an airless sprayer is a more affordable option compared to purchasing both an air compressor and a spray painter separately.

An airless sprayer operates with a small electric pump motor that pushes paint through a narrow opening or orifice, breaking it into a fine mist. The spray pattern can be adjusted to fit the job at hand. Common components of an airless sprayer include the electric pump, power cord, handle, trigger switch, nozzle, spray controller, and paint reservoir. Some models draw paint from a bucket or can via a tube instead of using a built-in container.

Always refer to the user manual that comes with the sprayer to ensure proper use. High-pressure sprayers can pose more risks than those with smaller pumps. With the sprayer unplugged, remove the paint container and fill it with paint. For sprayers without an integrated container, a tube draws paint directly from the can. Practice spraying on a test surface to fine-tune the spray pattern and your technique. For a uniform finish, overlap each stroke slightly, spraying in side-to-side motions. Maintain parallel movement of your hand to the surface for consistent coverage.

Proper maintenance of an airless sprayer involves thoroughly cleaning all parts before the paint has a chance to dry. Pay particular attention to the paint nozzle, ensuring it is completely cleaned. Consult the instructions on the paint can for the best cleaning practices for sprayers and brushes.
