Aldi has long been a favorite for budget-conscious shoppers. With its minimalist business model, limited advertising, and a focus on store-brand products, Aldi was known for only accepting cash and debit. But now, they've announced that credit cards will also be accepted.
According to their press release:
ALDI, one of America's top three most popular grocery stores*, will now allow credit card payments – including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express – at all of its locations nationwide. This update is part of ALDI's ongoing effort to make grocery shopping as easy and enjoyable as possible for their 30 million customers every month. "As ALDI grows by diversifying our product range and entering new markets, we will continue to adapt our business practices," said Jason Hart, CEO of ALDI. "We are committed to improving our customers' shopping experiences and offering the convenience of credit card payments is one way we can make that happen."
Aldi originated in Germany and has enjoyed popularity throughout Europe. It has since expanded in the U.S. with approximately 1,500 locations. The company plans to grow to 2,000 stores by 2018, all of which will accept credit cards. For additional details, you can download the full press release at the link provided below.
