While a winter snowfall can be stunning, dealing with any significant accumulation of snow can quickly turn frustrating—especially when you need to clear a path to your vehicle before hopping into the car and heading out.
If shoveling wasn't already enough of a workout, you're also likely dealing with a frozen windshield. Many people have their own methods for warming up their vehicle quickly during the cold months, and Ken Weathers has his own favorite technique.
Ken Weathers, the perfectly named meteorologist at WATE in Knoxville, Tennessee, has become a viral sensation.
Back in 2016, Weathers uploaded a YouTube video where he revealed his favorite trick for defrosting a car windshield in under a minute. Since then, nearly 10 million people have watched his cold-weather hack, and many now swear by his simple, homemade defrosting solution, which is incredibly easy to prepare.
All you need is a water bottle. Fill it with a mixture of one part water and two parts isopropyl or rubbing alcohol, then shake it up. A couple of sprays onto your windshield, and the ice melts away in no time.
“The reason this works is that rubbing alcohol has a freezing point of 128 degrees below zero,” explains Weathers. “So you can keep this mixture in your car, and it will never freeze.”
