Whether you're familiar with yoga or not, the idea of practicing it while suspended in the air may seem peculiar. But don’t worry: 'Aerial yoga' doesn’t involve doing a downward dog on a trapeze. Rather, you’ll be supported by a gentle hammock, which allows gravity to assist your body in the practice.
As part of our ongoing 'Day 1' series, which explores how to dive into new hobbies or activities, we turned to Lakeesha from Studio Anya (where they practice a version of aerial yoga known as AntiGravity Fitness, created by Christopher Harrison) for advice on what to expect in your first aerial yoga class. Tip #1: Trust yourself (and your hammock). And remember to keep breathing.
