Photo: Taylor Hill/Getty ImagesBangs make a bold statement, and Cara Delevingne is fully owning the look with her latest daring hairstyle. The model unveiled micro bangs at the 2024 LACMA Art and Film Gala, and we’re predicting they’ll soon become the hottest winter hairstyle trend.
This bold cut is just the latest in a series of daring style choices from Delevingne. Over the years, she’s rocked everything from long, flowing waves and a platinum blonde pixie to a bold buzzcut. But these ultra-short baby bangs, styled with a minimalist updo, exuded strong Audrey Hepburn vibes—an aesthetic we can always get behind.

Think of them as the poodles of bangs—extremely high-maintenance!”

What to Request from Your Stylist
Delevingne’s fringe, cut close to her hairline, adds a striking frame to her face, giving her a bold and playful vibe. These bangs work best on finer hair with a straight or slightly wavy texture, says Patterson. He also advises against going for a perfectly straight line when getting the cut at the salon. Adding some irregularity and a slightly jagged edge to the fringe keeps the look fresh and modern.
Micro bangs aren’t a one-size-fits-all style, so Patterson suggests making them your own. “This could mean cutting them just above your eyebrows or even mid-forehead. You don’t have to go as extreme as others with the micro look,” he says. “Depending on your preference, you might end up with more of a micro or midi bang.”
How to Style Micro Bangs at Home
Maintaining bangs of any kind can be a hassle, but micro bangs require extra care. To style them properly, you need to use a blow-dry technique known as the “head wrap,” explains Patterson.
Though it may sound intimidating, the technique is actually simple. You brush your bangs from left to right, then right to left, repeating the motion with a styling brush and blow-dryer until they’re completely dry. This will leave you with a look that’s both elegant and playful.
If you're after a bit more texture, you might be someone who benefits from a longer midi-bang to help support and enhance that look, says Patterson. “For that, you’ll want to use a diffuser drying technique!”
