After the last episode of Game of Thrones premiered on May 19, fans have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the ending. Common criticisms include the mishandling of character arcs, a rushed narrative, and the controversial choice of the ruler who ultimately claimed the throne. Interestingly, even some of the show's cast members shared these sentiments.
Charles Dance, known for his role as Tywin Lannister in the first four seasons of Game of Thrones—and his infamous demise at the hands of his son, Tyrion—recently appeared on Good Morning Britain. During the interview, he openly discussed his thoughts on the finale. According to Digital Spy, the 72-year-old actor confessed he was left puzzled by the conclusion, stating, "When we reached the final series and the very end, I thought, 'hmm, OK.'"
'I was confused.' Charles Dance (aka Tywin Lannister) admits he wasn't entirely satisfied with the final season of #GameOfThrones and reveals he was hoping Tyrion would end up on the Iron Throne! ⚔️ pic.twitter.com/e8sSCuAkXj

Dance appeared dissatisfied with the fates of the surviving characters in the show's closing scenes, reminiscing:
“Arya is off sailing somewhere, Jon is back up north, beyond the Wall, and then there’s Tyrion. The remaining characters are just sitting around the table, asking, 'So, what’s next? Should we have a cup of tea or something?' And I thought, 'Hmm, I’m not sure.'”
When Good Morning Britain co-host Kate Garraway asked Dance if he wished Tyrion had ended up in charge, the actor responded, “Personally? Yes.”
Everyone—even the show’s cast—had their own expectations and desires for the finale. However, with a series as massive as Game of Thrones, satisfying everyone was never going to happen. Let’s just hope Dance isn’t out there signing a petition or seeking therapy over it.
