Airfare prices have reached some of the lowest levels in recent years, with certain destinations offering even better discounts. Kiwi.com, a popular flight comparison platform, has compiled a report ranking countries based on the affordability and high cost of flights.
The study analyzed over one million flights across 75 highly visited countries. Prices were evaluated for both domestic and international routes, offering a ranking system based on the findings. Here's an outline of their general approach:
We considered both domestic and international flights originating from 75 of the world’s most frequently visited nations, calculating the average fare per 100 kilometers of travel, incorporating both peak and off-peak seasons for over a million flights. The research also differentiated between budget airlines and traditional carriers to determine a comprehensive cost index across countries.
India, Malaysia, Russia, and Portugal were among the countries with the lowest overall flight costs. India stood out as the least expensive, with an average fare of $3.25 per kilometer. On the other end of the spectrum, the United Arab Emirates had the priciest flights, averaging $105.71 per 100 kilometers. Finland followed closely with the second-highest price at $50.98 per 100 kilometers.
