There are three methods to insert tables into your Word documents, each requiring just a few straightforward steps. These instructions are for Microsoft Word 2003, though the process is quite similar in other Word versions.
Here’s how you can create a table using the Tables and Borders toolbar:
- Position the cursor where you want the table to appear.
- Click the Insert Table button in the Tables and Borders toolbar located at the top of the screen. [Microsoft]
- Drag the table's corner until the desired number of rows and columns are set.
- Click to place the table into the document.
Here’s how to insert a table using the Insert Table dialog box:
- From the menu bar, click Table and then select Insert followed by Table… to open the dialog box.
- Specify the number of rows and columns for your table.
- If you'd like the cells to automatically resize to fit the text, select AutoFit behavior. Alternatively, you can choose AutoFormat to select a predefined table format.
- Click OK to add the table to your document.
Here’s how to manually draw a table:
- Click Table on the menu bar.
- Choose Draw Table.
- Drag the pencil across the page to create a rectangle where you want your table.
- Draw vertical and horizontal lines to define the columns and rows of the table.
