Imagine buying something, only to see its price drop in the following days. Some companies will refund the difference, and if they don't, your credit card company might—if you used the right card to pay.
If you use their card, certain credit card providers offer price adjustments when a lower price is found. There are limits depending on the policy, so be sure to check the fine print.
This is a great credit card benefit. Nerd Wallet, a financial website, compiled a list of price drop policies for major issuers like Discover, CitiBank, and MasterCard. We also reached out to Visa Signature card providers. Kevin Yuann, Director of Credit Cards, shared with us:
Some Visa Signature card issuers do provide price protection. For instance, Chase Sapphire Preferred covers price adjustments for U.S. purchases, whether advertised online or in print, within 90 days. The cap is $500 per item, up to $2,500 annually.
To check if your Visa Signature card offers price protection, contact the card issuer or review your card's terms. Unfortunately, American Express has discontinued this benefit, according to Yuann.
