A sudden, severe allergic reaction is the last thing you want during pizza night. If you're someone with food allergies and have recently bought DiGiorno frozen pizzas, you may want to double-check your freezer. Nestlé is recalling 27,872 pounds of DiGiorno Crispy Pan Crust Pepperoni Pizzas after a labelling error failed to list soy as an ingredient.
This recall is due to 'misbranding and undeclared allergens'
As reported by the USDA, a consumer complaint revealed that some DiGiorno pizza boxes were mixed up, with some containing a different, three-meat pizza instead of the intended pepperoni. The issue arises from the beef and sausage toppings in the three-meat pizza, which contain soy protein—a known allergen.
“Individuals with soy allergies should avoid consuming the product to prevent an allergic reaction. It is advised to dispose of or return the affected items to the place of purchase,” the recall notice states. (If you're certain you're not allergic to soy, you’re safe to proceed.) No adverse reactions have been reported as of now from consuming these mis-labeled pizzas.
How to identify if you have one of the recalled pizzas
