Every now and then, you’ll discover the perfect piece of artwork for an empty wall or that side table you’ve been eyeing but refused to pay full price for. The key isn’t always luck—it’s all about strategy. Here, three HomeGoods enthusiasts share their insider tips for finding the best treasures.
Build relationships with employees
It’s always beneficial to have a friendly connection, which is why interior stylist and HomeGoods Featured Finder Jenny Reimold suggests getting to know your local store managers by name.
“Share what items you’re looking for, inquire about when the next holiday-themed products will be displayed, and familiarize yourself with the delivery schedule,” she advises. This way, you’ll always stay ahead of the latest HomeGoods arrivals.
Frequent the store regularly
HomeGoods constantly updates its inventory. If you’re searching for something specific (or just want to get lucky like others), Ashley Pizarro, the creator of Shopped by Ashley, stresses the importance of visiting as often as possible.
“Try visiting multiple times a week, and explore different locations if you have more than one store nearby,” she advises. “In my experience, most stores update their stock daily.”
Stay updated on social media
“The next best thing to becoming friends with the store manager is following HomeGoods on social media,” says Reimold. By keeping an eye on their social media and tracking the hashtag #HGfinder, you’ll always be in the loop about their latest arrivals without ever stepping foot in the store—saving you plenty of time.
Create a shopping strategy
When interior designer and HomeGoods Featured Finder Beth Diana Smith visits her local store, she always follows a specific route to ensure she’s efficient with her shopping time.
“My method is to start by scanning the store’s perimeter, then tackle the center aisles in order of my must-see sections,” says Smith. “I begin with wall art so I can grab anything I love and bring it to the front. Next, I focus on the furniture, paying special attention to accent chairs and decorative benches.”
Afterward, she moves on to the bedding section, searching for duvets and comforters, finishing up with decorative accessories.
Master your timing
When dealing with stores that frequently refresh their inventory, timing is absolutely critical. Some suggest visiting HomeGoods on delivery day, but Reimold prefers to go the day after, right when the store opens. “This allows the staff 12 to 24 hours to unload and stock the shelves,” she shares.
Look high and low in the store
When shopping, we usually focus on eye level and above, but at HomeGoods, you need to dig deeper. Due to the vast array of items, Reimold finds some of her best treasures by browsing the lower shelves.
“This tip comes in especially handy when I’m in the pillow section, searching through the stacked pillows,” she shares. “Don’t hesitate to squat down and carefully inspect every corner of the aisles!”
