This one's for all the gym-goers who find themselves with a massive tub of protein powder in their cart. Supplements often come in large containers measured by scoops, and naturally, they include one. But where do they hide it? At the very bottom, of course.
Some of us figured this out pretty quickly, while others (and by 'others' I mean, well, me) took a bit longer. It wasn’t until a year or two ago that I realized I didn’t have to use the scoop from the new jug. I already had one... from the previous jug.
The only small catch here is that you’ll need to make sure the new scoop and the old one are the same size. Check the nutrition label, which will specify something like “Serving size: 1 scoop (30g).” If it’s the same brand as your previous powder and the label matches, the scoop should work. If you're unsure, just grab a kitchen scale and measure a scoop of powder.
You no longer have to worry about whether the scoop is hidden deep inside, somewhere halfway, or just under the surface. Simply grab your trusty old scoop and begin. When you eventually find the new one—perhaps after weeks—you can decide which scoop to stick with. Keep the spare in your kitchen drawer for later use.
Holding onto a good scoop is worth it because sometimes they, unfortunately, change the design. I used to get perfectly functional scoops with my unflavored whey, but one day they switched to a scoop where the handle was in the middle, not at the top. I don't know who thought that was a good idea, but now a small mountain of powder collects on the handle, causing inevitable spills when you try to transfer the powder into your drink. Of course, I'd already tossed the old scoop when I found the new one, and I’ll regret that decision forever. So, save the good scoops, alright?
