If you often have unused funds in your Flexible Spending Account (FSA) as the year winds down, there’s no need to wait until December to start using them. You can purchase first aid supplies now and consider donating them to organizations providing medical support for protesters.
Before purchasing supplies, consult with the group you wish to support. A list of street medic organizations, sorted by location, is available here. If you can’t locate a specific medic group, contact local community or activist groups involved in protests—they may guide you to the right contacts.
Check with local organizers to see if they’re collecting supplies and what items they require. Some groups, such as the North Star Health Collective in Minneapolis, may already have sufficient donations and might prefer alternative forms of assistance.
In addition to supporting street medic groups, you can purchase supplies for your personal first aid kit or to distribute among friends. If you’re unable to attend protests but still want to contribute, think about handing out first aid kits, along with water and snacks, to those participating.
