Now, as its signature hair tools are a staple in salons and homes worldwide, the brand has expanded into hair styling products, much to the excitement of consumers. Stylists are praising the new range, highlighting how it simplifies styling routines, provides impressive long-lasting effects, and works well with various hair textures.
Introducing the Dynamic Duo
The all-new Chitosan collection features two standout products. The first—and arguably the most talked-about right now—is the Chitosan Pre-Styling Hair Cream for Flexible Hold.
This groundbreaking pre-styling cream is applied to damp hair before heat styling, offering a soft, long-lasting hold. What sets it apart is that it comes in different formulas tailored to your hair type, including light conditioning for straight to wavy hair, rich conditioning for straight to wavy hair, light conditioning for curly to coily hair, and rich conditioning for curly to coily hair.
"The results you get with one of these pre-stylers would usually require a whole collection of products," says stylist Courtney Warda, owner of Haus of Hndsm at Sola Salons. "No frizz, the perfect amount of shine, and a touchable hold that actually lasts? Name one product that does all of that… I’ll wait."
The second product—Chitosan Post-Styling Hair Serum for Hold & Style Extending—is a serum that enhances your hair's definition and gives it a shiny, silky finish. It’s designed to be applied to dry, styled hair and works with all hair textures and types.
How the Products Function
The collection is named after its star ingredient, chitosan, which is extracted from the cell walls of oyster mushrooms. You might wonder, what are mushrooms doing in your hair care? Well, it’s not just a trendy ingredient. The brand explains that chitosan is responsible for the mushroom's airy, cloud-like shape, structure, and resilience, and they aimed to offer the same benefits for your hair.
In addition to chitosan, the line also includes complex polymers instead of the simpler ones commonly found in other products, as well as triangle-shaped bonds. This formulation provides exceptional flexibility, softness, and a longer-lasting hold, preventing the crunchy texture and flat hairstyles that succumb to humidity.
"Dyson considered all hair types when developing this line—straight, wavy, curly, and coily—and each pre-styler was meticulously designed for every hair type," says Warda. "As someone with curly hair myself, I truly appreciate what this line does for my hair and my clients’ hair."
The new hair care products have been in development for the past five years, according to the brand in an interview with Mytour. These products are designed to complement Dyson tools, although they can also be used with other styling devices. Staying true to its mission, the line aims to simplify hair care routines, deliver stunning results, and minimize damage along the way.
