Dogs go beyond being mere cuddly companions on the couch. Pettable, a company specializing in providing authorization letters for emotional support animals and psychiatric service dogs, understands this better than anyone.
In honor of National Love Your Pet Day on February 20, Pettable is offering $1000 to one fortunate individual, titled the 'Director of Doggie Flicks,' to watch six touching dog movies over 48 hours. With roughly 10 hours of viewing time, this breaks down to $100 per hour or approximately $167 per movie. Additionally, you’ll receive a stipend for movie rentals and a 'survival kit' to enhance your binge-watching experience. In exchange, you’ll need to write a 1000-word review of the films, which Pettable will feature on its blog.
If selecting six dog-themed movies from the vast array of options seems overwhelming, rest assured: Pettable has already curated the list, which you can find below.
- Marley & Me (2008)
- A Dog’s Journey (2019)
- Because of Winn-Dixie (2005)
- Eight Below (2006)
- Lady and the Tramp (1955)
- The Call of the Wild (2020)
Unsurprisingly, applicants must have a passion for dogs, though owning one isn’t a requirement. Along with providing personal information, including social media profiles, the application requires you to describe your motivation for the role and share how “a pet has positively influenced your life.” While optional, submitting a video explaining why you’re the ideal candidate for the “Director of Doggie Flicks” position is strongly recommended.
The application period is currently open and will close on March 7 at 5 p.m. EST. U.S. residents aged 18 or older are eligible to apply.
