In Windows Explorer and other similar apps, the detailed view often has columns that are poorly spaced. By pressing CTRL along with the numeric pad's + key, they will resize automatically to the optimal fit.
The SuperSite for Windows blog, known for its useful Windows tips, highlights a neat shortcut for resizing columns in any Windows app that supports detailed view (the demonstration video above is courtesy of How-To Geek).
Just press CTRL and the + key on the numeric pad—the standard + key won’t work—to resize all columns so they perfectly fit the text. Instead of a truncated snippet, you’ll see the full content within the column. If you’re on a laptop without a numeric pad, don’t worry. Head over to How-To Geek's article to download an AutoHotkey script designed for laptop users.
