Google Earth offers the opportunity to explore historic landmarks, national parks, or, for those seeking excitement, the filming sites of beloved horror films. According to Bloody Disgusting, a comprehensive 3D map has been created, showcasing every location where Jaws (1975) was filmed.
The map, titled The Ultimate Jaws Location Guide, was developed by Jaws enthusiasts David Bigelow, Jim Beller, and John Campopiano. They describe it as "the most detailed and precise Jaws location resource available." It highlights over 70 locations tied to the production and pre-production of Spielberg's iconic film, including its sequels.
The majority of these sites are found in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, the primary filming location for Jaws. Through Google Earth, users can virtually visit key spots, such as the beach where Chrissie Watkins met her demise or Quint's shack. The map also features several filming locations outside Massachusetts, including Southern California's waters, where the opening credits' underwater scenes were captured.
The dedicated Jaws enthusiasts crafted this map based on research from their forthcoming docudrama series, Making the Monster, which delves into the challenges faced during the film's production. The interactive map allows you to explore specific locations of interest or navigate through all of them to experience the movie from a fresh perspective. While many of these spots are accessible as tourist destinations, a virtual tour offers an excellent option for those unable to travel.
