El Camino begins right after the conclusion of 'Felina,' the memorable final episode of Breaking Bad. This Netflix original, which will also screen in select theaters, follows Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) immediately after his daring escape from Walter White's violent meth operation. The movie delves into his trauma with several flashbacks to his time in captivity.

- In 2013, rumors started circulating about a potential Breaking Bad movie, right after the series concluded.
- Vince Gilligan first reached out to Aaron Paul with the idea for El Camino in late 2017. While in New York, Paul received a call from Gilligan, who shared, 'I have an idea for the next chapter of Jesse Pinkman’s journey. What do you think about that?'
- Initially, Gilligan envisioned El Camino as a brief follow-up to the series, a mini-episode. “When the 10th anniversary of the show came up, I thought, ‘Maybe we can get a little budget from Sony and do a short episode. We’ll call it ‘63,’ like it’s the 63rd episode, and make it 15 or 20 minutes long,’” said Gilligan. That short idea quickly evolved into an hour-long episode... then two hours.
- The original title for El Camino was '63,' meant to reference it being the 63rd episode of Breaking Bad. Producer Thomas Schnauz recommended that Gilligan rethink the title to give the film its own identity, separate from the series.
- Most of the filming took place in and around Albuquerque in November 2018, though they kept things mostly secret. The film was shot under the working title Greenbrier to avoid drawing attention.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will be available on Netflix on October 11, 2019.
