Once viewed as the top competitor to Barbie in the 1990s, Polly Pocket quickly became a must-have item for Millennials, and even Gen Z joined in on the fun later on.
Polly Pocket, a tiny toy first conceived in 1983 by Chris Wiggs, was originally designed as a dollhouse for his daughter inside a compact case. By 1989, the toy made its way into stores after Bluebird Toys, a UK-based company, secured the license. Mattel later took over the U.S. distribution in the early '90s.
The charm of carrying a miniature doll wherever you went struck a chord with young Millennials, and by the mid-'90s, Polly Pocket became one of the top toys for girls under 8. (Of course, keeping track of those tiny accessories was a whole other challenge.)
Unfortunately, good things don’t last forever: In 1998, Mattel acquired Bluebird Toys, taking full control of the brand and making several changes, including increasing the size of the dolls to make them closer to Barbie. They also added magnets to the dolls' hands and feet and made their clothes and accessories magnetic as well. While this may have seemed like a great idea at first, the magnets eventually started falling out, causing a safety issue when children began swallowing them, which led to a massive recall in 2006 of over 4 million sets. Six years later, the iconic miniature doll was discontinued in the U.S.
The toy saw a cultural resurgence in 2018 when Mattel brought it back to store shelves, but there’s something uniquely nostalgic about the original ‘90s-era Polly Pocket toys that’s hard to replicate. If you still have your treasured collection from back in the day, it could be worth a significant amount of money. Plus, with Mattel currently working on a live-action Polly Pocket movie—especially after their massive success with the recent Barbie film—now is the perfect time to dig through your attic for those old sets. So, without further delay, here are some of the most valuable Polly Pockets today.
1. Polly Pocket Children’s Hospital (1995)

Polly Pockets made by Bluebird Toys between 1989 and 1998 generally hold more value than those released by Mattel in the late '90s and beyond, and this 1995 model is no exception. Staying true to Polly Pocket’s miniature charm, this children’s hospital measures just 4 inches by 4.5 inches by 2.75 inches.
However, despite its tiny size, this hospital is fully equipped with everything a medical facility needs. It features three floors, including a reception area, a nursery for the smallest patients, an examining room (complete with a scale), and a rooftop garden and play area for relaxation. There’s also a ramp, an elevator, and a wheelchair for easy access.
Polly is fully prepared to care for the tiniest patients in her miniature world. If you happen to have a complete, intact set, you could fetch as much as $5000 on eBay. However, on average, you can expect to make about $300.
2. Polly Pocket Partytime Surprise 30th Anniversary Edition Keepsake (2019)

Though this set isn’t a ‘90s or ‘00s relic, it remains a valuable piece in the Polly Pocket world. In 2019, Mattel released a 30th anniversary edition of the original Polly Pocket from 1989. It mirrors the childhood version you remember, from the living room and spinning dance floor to the tables and chairs for guests. Plus, it includes bonus items like a commemorative tiny magazine and a keepsake box.
Although it’s no longer available in stores, a complete, unused set could fetch as much as $1000 on eBay. If it’s been opened but is still in good condition, it will likely sell for around $78.
3. Polly Pocket Birthday Party Stamper (1992)

A Polly Pocket toy and a stamp set? If that brings out your inner child’s excitement, you’re not alone. Released in 1992 and now a sought-after collector’s item, this heart-shaped compact offers the ultimate birthday experience for Polly and her friends. The upper floor features a bedroom, living room, puppet theater, and much more. On the lower floor, there’s a garden table set ready for the party guests to enjoy.
If you have one with a functional stamper, you might be able to sell it for around £696 (approximately $845). However, most sets typically go for between $200 and $300 on eBay. Still, that's some sweet birthday money.
4. Polly Pocket Alice in Wonderland Fantasy Fun (1996)
Step into an Alice-inspired wonderland with this Disney Polly Pocket set. When closed, it features the White Rabbit’s house, a quaint tea party, and a small stream. Upon opening, you’ll discover an interior filled with references to Wonderland, including charming nods to the Queen of Hearts (like the whimsical trees). The set includes four Polly Pocket-sized Alice in Wonderland characters: Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter, and the White Rabbit.
Surprisingly, you don’t need your set to be in mint condition to make a profit. Disney Polly Pocket sets, which were released during the height of the Disney Renaissance, still hold significant value for collectors. Even used ones in good condition have sold for over $700 on eBay. Some accessories, like the tiny Alice figure, could even fetch as much as $80.
5. Princess Polly Jewel Case (1997)
Polly enjoys the royal treatment with this Princess Polly set, released around 1997. Inside the stylish jewel case, you’ll find Polly’s luxurious bedroom, a treasure chest where she stashes her valuables, and a mirror where she can dance (because who wouldn’t?). The lower level includes a grand dining hall, golden gates leading to a garden, and even a pool.
While selling this Bluebird Toys classic may not buy you a palace, you can still make a tidy profit. A complete set in good condition recently sold for over £520 (approximately $630) on eBay.
6. Disney’s Peter Pan Neverland Playset (1997)
With this Disney Polly Pocket set, we return to Neverland alongside Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, who never grow old. When closed, it showcases Neverland and Hook's boat; when fully opened, you’ll find an abundance of Peter Pan-themed details, including Hook's boat, Tick-Tock the Crocodile, and more. You can also join Wendy and her siblings in their bedroom, swing on a hammock with Peter Pan, or slide down with Michael or John.
A complete and undamaged set can fetch around $450 on eBay, while others have sold for anywhere between $120 and $320. Since Neverland isn't exactly a real-world destination, the money you make from selling your set could be spent on plenty of anti-aging skincare products.
7. Polly Pocket Jewel Magic Ball Sparkle Surprise (1996)

Though this cherished Polly Pocket isn’t exactly the size of your pocket, there’s still so much to love about it. Inside this magical ball are four rooms where Polly can hang out with her friends. She can watch little ducks and a swan boat cruising in the pond next to her tree house, kick back in a hammock inside, and even explore a birdhouse. Additionally, Polly has a cozy bedroom and a treasure room to store her miniature treasures.
If you own one that is complete and in good condition, it could fetch around $325 on eBay. Many others have sold for between $200 and $300 as well.
