College is intended to be an investment, but the payoff may take longer than expected, depending on your earning potential. Here are the highest paying college majors, according to Glassdoor.
The platform analyzed nearly 500,000 resumes and salary reports to rank the majors that yield the highest salaries within the first five years after college. Here's how they did it:
For a major to be included, Glassdoor required at least 400 unique resumes, as of 10/03/16, where job seekers or employees indicated having graduated with the corresponding major. The median base salary for each major was determined by analyzing career progression data, including job titles, within the first five years post-graduation. Salary data submitted by Glassdoor users was also considered. The rankings were then based on the median base salary within those five years of work after earning a college degree.
Here’s a look at their ranking of the top ten highest paying majors, along with their median base salaries.
