If you’re passionate about photography and want to earn money, Foap lets you combine both interests. While it may sound easier than it is, Foap streamlines the process of selling your photos to brands as stock images.
This free app connects photographers using smartphones with major brands like Bank of America and Nivea. After downloading the app and setting up a profile, you can upload photos, tag them, and add captions. With a bit of luck, you could make a sale. Each photo is sold for $5, and you have the opportunity to sell the same image to multiple clients. Additionally, you can curate albums from other users’ photos, gaining exposure for their work while earning a small commission if one of their images sells through your album. Watch the video above to see how it works.
Brands also post photography challenges called Missions. In your sales tab, you'll find a list of brands with specific photo requests like ‘Christmas recipes’ (a Mission via Getty Images). Anyone can submit their photos for consideration, and the brand will select the winners. Payments range from $200 to $500, and you can browse through past Winners to see which photos were chosen.
You can view the full terms of service here, but keep in mind that selling your photos through Foap grants buyers the non-exclusive right to use your image without crediting you as the photographer.
While it’s unlikely that you’ll become wealthy from using the app, it’s still an enjoyable experience for those who love taking photos. Give it a try using the links below.
