Balloon Paddle Ball
Children will adore this DIY active sports game, perfect for both indoor and outdoor play! Discover more about Balloon Paddle Ball.
Materials Needed:
- Wire coat hangers
- Old nylon stockings
- Masking tape or electrician's tape
- Safe scissors
- String
- Balloons
Create one racket per player. Gently shape a coat hanger into a diamond, ensuring the hook is at one corner. Bend the hook to form a handle and wrap it with masking tape. Cut the foot portion off an old nylon stocking, tie the end with string, and stretch it over the hanger. Secure it around the handle and trim any extra material.
The following games are perfect for outdoor play on calm days and equally suitable for indoor use, as they are gentle on furniture.
Keep it up: This collaborative game is designed for two to four players. Set boundaries where players must keep their feet, then launch a balloon into the air. Players must keep the balloon aloft using only their rackets.
Keep-away: One player is designated as "it" and stands in the center of the play area. The other players must keep the balloon airborne and away from "it." If "it" touches the balloon, the last player to hit it becomes "it." If the balloon drops, the player who failed to hit it becomes "it." If a wild hit caused the miss, the hitter becomes "it."

Russia
Mastering Russia, a ball-bouncing game for kids, requires both skill and precision!
Materials Needed:
- Small rubber bouncing ball
- Wall with a hard surface underneath
- Chalk
In Russia, players perform throws, catches, and various tricks.
Draw a chalk line four feet away from a tall wall. Each player, standing behind the line, takes turns throwing the ball against the wall, performing a trick, and catching it. Players who fail to complete a level remain at that level until they succeed.
Onesies: Toss the ball against the wall and catch it before it touches the ground.
Twosies: Toss the ball, allow it to bounce once between the line and the wall, then catch it. Repeat the process.
Threesies: Throw the ball, clap your hands three times, and catch the ball before it touches the ground. Repeat this sequence three times.
Foursies: Throw the ball, circle your hands around each other four times, then catch the ball before it bounces. (Repeat four times, and so on.)
Fivesies: Toss the ball under one leg and catch it before it hits the ground.
Sixies: Throw the ball behind your back or over one shoulder and catch it before it bounces.
Sevensies: Toss the ball, spin around, clap twice, spin again, and catch the ball before it touches the ground.
Eightsies: Throw the ball, lift your right foot to touch your ankle, lift your left foot to touch your ankle, and catch the ball after its first bounce.
Ninesies: Throw the ball, perform a full spin, and catch it before it hits the floor.
Tensies: Bounce the ball seven times on the ground, slap it against the wall with one hand, and catch it before it bounces. Can you complete this ten times in a row?

Choosing 'It'
Enjoy the fun even before the game begins! When playing games like tag or hide-and-seek, you’ll need to spend a few moments deciding who will be "it."
Materials Needed:
- Friends
To select someone, have all the kids kneel in a circle, placing one foot in the center so their toes touch, forming a smaller circle.
Use playful rhymes like "One potato, two potato, three potato, four, five potato, six potato, seven potato, more!" as you tap each player's foot in sequence. When you reach "more!," the person whose foot is tapped becomes "it!"
Create your own rhymes and silly songs to decide who will be "it" in future rounds.
