Born in London and spending his last years in New York, David Bowie's life journey comes full circle as the celebrated retrospective of his career concludes at the Brooklyn Museum in 2018, five years after its initial launch at London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
After captivating audiences worldwide, the exhibition “David Bowie is” will open at the Brooklyn Museum on March 2, 2018, and remain on display until July 15, 2018. Organized by the V&A, the showcase includes nearly 400 artifacts from Bowie’s personal collection, such as iconic stage outfits, original song lyrics, rare photographs, set designs, and his personal musical instruments.
These pieces collectively highlight Bowie’s artistic journey, offering fresh perspectives on “the creative mind of a visionary who continuously reinvented himself, forged groundbreaking collaborations, and defied societal norms, reshaping the music industry and empowering individuals to embrace their unique identities,” as stated by the Brooklyn Museum.
Since its departure from the V&A in 2013, “David Bowie is” has attracted nearly 2 million visitors. Given its immense popularity, the exhibition operates on a timed ticketing system, with early access privileges granted to Brooklyn Museum members and select ticket holders.
