We often believe happiness is just out of reach, waiting for us to achieve the next milestone. However, contrary to this idea, studies reveal that happiness is not the byproduct of success but a key element that propels it forward.
Psychologist Shawn Achor dedicated over ten years to studying happiness at Harvard University, and in his book The Happiness Advantage, he states:
When we are in a positive mindset, our brains become more engaged, creative, motivated, energetic, resilient, and productive at work.
Happiness plays a crucial role in enhancing performance, which ultimately leads to success. Achor suggests several activities to boost happiness, such as meditation, nurturing relationships, and spending more on experiences rather than material possessions. Numerous studies and meta-analyses confirm the correlation between happiness and success across various areas (e.g., work, health, creativity, sociability).
Even for the most practical among us, happiness becomes much more than just a distant goal. By prioritizing our happiness, we not only experience immediate joy but also set the stage for future success.
