How to grow: Plant in well-drained, acidic soil in areas with partial shade. After flowering, trim for a tidy appearance. Tip cuttings can be rooted in late summer, but naturally occurring layered branches are often found beneath established plants. Simply cut a portion with healthy roots and transplant it elsewhere to establish a new patch.
Uses: Heather is perfect for adding winter color and can be used to cover challenging slopes in shady spots. It also works well as ground cover and as an understory plant beneath trees.
