Trendy skincare ingredients may come and go, but it’s always fascinating to track which ones gain popularity. Just two years ago, alpha-hydroxy acid was still relatively unheard of.

We’ve put together a list of the best skincare products with mandelic acid, available both in stores and online. Some of these products have been around for a while, while others are fresh additions to the market.
1. Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 6% mandelic acid + 2% lactic acid liquid exfoliant

Paula's Choice has introduced one of its latest offerings, and I am beyond excited to see my favorite AHA being featured in such a well-respected brand. The product has more of a toner-like consistency than a serum, which makes it perfect for those who prefer a lighter formula, while still delivering great results. It combines mandelic acid and time-released lactic acid to diminish discoloration and maximize the benefits of these powerful ingredients. The addition of yarrow extract and antioxidants enhances this formula, nurturing both the skin's microbiome and moisture barrier. After trying a few sample packets, I can confidently say my skin adored it. It’s effective without being too harsh or tingly. Some users have mentioned a distinct smell, but I haven't found it to be overwhelming or unpleasant. If anything, it reassures me that no essential oils are used in the formulation, avoiding irritation for sensitive skin.
Review Highlight: "Works great for my sensitive, acne-prone, mature skin. The 2% BHA exfoliant dried my skin out terribly, but this one works wonders. The smell doesn’t bother me like others have said, and it’s fragrance-free, which is perfect for sensitive skin. I needed a gentle exfoliant for daily use that wouldn’t irritate, and I’ve tried so many (The Ordinary, Clinique, Ren, Caudalie, Ole Henriksen, to name a few), but none suited me. They either had alcohol, essential oils, or were too strong. This is my go-to. Highly recommend." — luvcj
Available at Sephora for $37.
2. The Ordinary mandelic acid 10% + HA

If you're after a more potent option, The Ordinary's 10% mandelic acid serum might be exactly what you need. It gently exfoliates to reveal brighter skin, smooth out uneven texture, tackle fine lines, and address blemishes, all while keeping your skin nourished and hydrated thanks to the added hyaluronic acid.
Review Highlight: "I typically don’t write reviews, but I had to for this product. It completely transformed my skin. I have hormonal acne, and after hearing that mandelic acid is great for it, I gave it a try—and wow, it works wonders! My skin looked so much better overnight! Highly recommend." — AbbyLeah
Available at Sephora for $7.80.
3.
The Inkey List mandelic acid treatment

For spot treatment, The Inkey List offers a fast-acting formula that not only exfoliates and helps clear breakouts but also works to diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation and discoloration left behind by blemishes. This effective treatment combines mandelic acid with glycerin for hydration and encapsulated retinol for potent results—all at an affordable price.
Review Highlight: "I’ve tried everything my dermatologist recommended for my severe acne, but nothing worked. This product is a hidden gem, and not many people talk about it. It helped with both my acne and the dark spots left behind." — afas
Available at Sephora for $13.
4. Sofie Pavitt Face mandelic clearing serum

Since its launch about a year ago, I’ve been using this serum and can confidently say it’s both gentle and effective. It hydrates deeply without leaving a greasy residue and has helped me keep breakouts under control. I’m really pleased with both the immediate and long-term effects — my skin feels soft, smooth, and supple, with fewer breakouts. With continued use, my skin only gets better. I don’t think I’ll be stopping anytime soon. This serum has definitely earned its place in my skincare routine.
Review Highlight: "I’m 30 and have struggled with acne my whole life. I’ve tried everything — benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, retinol, tret. This is the first product I’ve used in a long time that gave me noticeable results quickly, with minimal irritation. I had a little dryness on my chin and nose, but aside from that, my skin was visibly clearer within a week!" — Kathryn M.
Available at Sofie Pavitt Face for $54.
5. By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% skin prep water

6. Naturium mandelic topical acid 12%

This light serum is packed with a high concentration of mandelic acid, niacinamide, and other fruit-derived acids. These ingredients work together to exfoliate and brighten the skin, while also offering the benefit of minimizing fine lines.
Review Highlight: "I can’t even express how much I adore this serum. I have acne-prone, combination skin that leans oily, and after using this with the Creamy Double Cleanse Duo, I've seen better results than anything else I’ve tried. My oiliness is now completely under control — completely, and the brightness in my skin is a bonus I wasn’t expecting. I’ve never had that before. I typically break out on my lower cheeks and jawline, but I’ve only had one very minor breakout since using these products. I also use the cleansers once a day on my chest to tackle chest acne (caused by heat, oil, sweat, and friction), and now my chest is clear, bright, and soft! The redness on my face and chest has disappeared too! I will keep buying this!!!" — Anonymous
Available at Target for $20.
7. Allies of Skin mandelic pigmentation corrector night serum

Though on the pricier side, this highly concentrated serum is packed with powerful ingredients. It helps accelerate cell turnover, lighten dark spots, improve the appearance of breakouts, and even reduce common signs of aging. A potent mix of mandelic, lactic, and salicylic acids, alongside peptides and bakuchiol — a natural alternative to retinol — provides a major boost to the complexion, enhancing elasticity, firmness, brightness, and hydration.
Review Highlight: "This incredibly gentle serum delivers results fast. I bought it to fade sun spots, tighten my pores, and for general brightening. After using it for about a week, I’m amazed by the smoothness and brightness of my skin. I have a dark spot on my cheek that’s really starting to fade. The serum absorbs quickly. Highly recommend if you're addressing multiple skin concerns at once." — Anonymous
Available at Dermstore for $105.
8. Chemist Confessions The Specialist blackhead exfoliation treatment

This versatile treatment can be used in three different ways: as a nightly toner, a spot treatment, or as a weekly mask. It features a potent mix of mandelic acid and salicylic acid, making it a powerhouse for managing oily skin and acne. Niacinamide is also included to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and smooth.
Promising review: "Although this product is marketed for oily skin, I had a fantastic experience with it as someone who has very dry, eczema-prone, and sensitive skin. This is one of the few exfoliants I’ve used (aside from baby steps) that has actually delivered results. It clears breakouts and smooths out texture; I use it nightly by adding a drop to my moisturizer, and it never stings or burns — something I usually experience with other hydroxy acid exfoliants. A true winner!" — Anonymous
Available from Chemist Confessions for $38 (available in two sizes).
