As TechCrunch pointed out earlier today, adding a "guest mode" to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch would be a fantastic feature. Luckily, if you're someone who jailbreaks their device, you can access this feature right now.
iUsers is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to create multiple user profiles on your iDevice. While it’s primarily designed for the iPad, it can still work on iPhones and iPod touches with a few minor glitches. To set it up, simply follow the video or these steps:
Launch Cydia, tap the Manage tab, then Sources, followed by the Edit button, and finally hit Add. A window will appear starting with http://, to which you'll need to add cydia.iblogeek.com (ensure you add just one "g" in the URL). Once done, add the repository. Cydia will reload itself and prompt you to return to its main interface.
Next, tap the Search tab in Cydia and look up iUsers. When the results appear, select iUsers and proceed with the installation. After it’s installed, you’ll be prompted to restart Springboard (your home screen app), so go ahead and do that.
Once Springboard restarts, the lock screen will appear, prompting you to configure multiple user profiles. Go ahead and set up your first user by following the instructions on the screen.
When you’re finished, open the Settings app on your home screen and locate the new iUsers tab, which should be listed halfway down. Tap it to add more users. This is where you can create a guest account.
Once you’ve created all the user accounts you need, lock your device and attempt to unlock it. You’ll see an icon featuring people within the "slide to unlock" bar. Tap this icon to select the account you want to use. (Note: On iPhones and iPod touches, there’s a small bug that makes account names difficult to read, but you can still select them. Refer to the video for assistance with this.)
That’s all there is to it. Simply follow the same user selection process described earlier to switch between accounts. Now you can have multiple user profiles on your device, or just set up a guest account to keep your data secure from others.
