Are you thinking of taking a vacation this summer?
A recent Bankrate survey shows that just 52% of Americans are planning a summer vacation in 2019. The main obstacle preventing many from taking their much-needed break? The cost.
The most common reason (60%) for not planning a vacation is simply that people can't afford it.
For those who can’t afford a vacation, the two main barriers are everyday expenses (44%) and paying off debt (22%).
Bankrate also highlights that those planning a summer getaway this year expect to spend around $1,979 on average—similar to my own planned summer vacation, which is projected to cost $2,262.49, including hotel, airfare, transportation, meals, and souvenirs.
(Just so you know: I'm staying for five days and six nights at Walt Disney World, with a discount on the resort, my airfare covered by American Airlines AAdvantage miles, and only planning to buy one meal per day at the parks.)
