If you purchased Bose Sleepbuds for $250 to improve your sleep, it's important to know that Bose has stopped producing them and is offering full refunds to customers.
Bose posted a statement on its website, noting that while many Sleepbuds users achieved their sleep goals, others had a completely different experience:
You’ve mentioned issues such as your Sleepbuds™ not charging fully, shutting off unexpectedly, or both. We’ve listened to your concerns and heard you loud and clear.
After evaluating various solutions, such as replacing Sleepbuds and updating software/firmware, Bose discovered a fundamental issue with the Sleepbuds' battery:
We found that although the battery we selected operates safely, it doesn’t consistently meet the performance standards required for optimal functionality.
As a result, Bose has decided to discontinue the Sleepbuds product and is offering a full refund to anyone who purchased them. To receive your refund, request it by December 31, 2019. You must return your Sleepbuds to get the refund. Look out for an email with a prepaid UPS return label, and expect your refund check within 4–6 weeks after Bose processes your return.
If you're satisfied with your Sleepbuds and want to keep using them, Bose supports your choice (“If your sleepbuds™ are still working fine, we encourage you to keep using them”).
Additionally, Bose notes that their newer Sleepbuds are “less likely to experience issues” compared to the earlier models. If you have a malfunctioning pair and prefer trying a newer version over claiming a refund, you have that option. Bose will continue replacing faulty devices as long as supplies last. They expect to run out of replacements by early 2020, so act now if you want one.
If you bought Bose Sleepbuds, did they provide the restful sleep you were hoping for, or did you run into battery issues? Will you opt for a refund, try another pair, or continue using the Sleepbuds you have now?
