With console game prices continually rising, preordering or purchasing games at launch is becoming less financially viable. Often, the same game can be bought at a 30% or greater discount just a few months later, by which time any major bugs are usually resolved. If the cost of PS5 games is straining your budget, you can take advantage of a built-in feature that sends alerts when your chosen games are discounted. Simply add these games to your wishlist, and you’ll be notified as soon as their prices drop.
This guide will walk you through adding PS5 games to your wishlist and configuring alerts for price reductions.
Steps to Include PS5 Games in Your Wishlist
You can add PS5 games to your wishlist using either the PlayStation App on your smartphone or the PlayStation Store on your console. Simply open either platform, search for the game you’re interested in, and click the heart icon on its store page to add it to your wishlist. To access your wishlist on the PlayStation App, navigate to the Store tab (located in the center of the bottom bar) and tap the heart icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
On your PS5, you can also add games to your wishlist by visiting their store pages in the PlayStation Store and clicking the Wishlist button next to the Buy option. To view your wishlist on the PS5, open the PlayStation Store and select the heart icon in the top navigation bar.
How to Set Up PS5 Price Drop Notifications on Your Phone
Since you won’t always be near your console, the PlayStation App on your smartphone (iPhone/Android) is the ideal tool for receiving price drop alerts. Log into the app with your PlayStation account, then tap the game controller icon in the bottom-left corner. Next, click the gear icon in the top-right to access Settings. Navigate to Push notifications and scroll down to the Accounts and offers section. Make sure Wishlist Updates are turned on here.
Lastly, ensure that notifications for the PlayStation App are enabled in your smartphone’s settings. That’s all! You’ll receive a push notification on your phone whenever a game on your wishlist is discounted.
How to Activate Wishlist Notifications on PS5
Your PS5 can also alert you when wishlisted games are discounted. To activate this feature, navigate to the PS5 home screen, press the up-arrow button on your controller, and choose Settings. From there, head to the Notifications menu.
Make sure Allow Pop-Up Notifications is turned on. Next, scroll to Wishlist Updates and enable Show Pop-Ups. You can also customize whether these notifications appear during gameplay, video playback, or while broadcasting.
