Spotify offers various ways to share music, but now it has introduced a new 'Blend' feature. This allows users to create a shared playlist that automatically updates daily based on the musical preferences of both listeners. Available to both free and premium users, this feature enables you to invite anyone to create a Blend with you. Spotify curates the playlist by selecting songs it believes both listeners will enjoy.
Blend goes beyond just shared favorites. Any tracks that either person has saved, added to their library, or previously listened to may also appear in the playlist.

When you create a new Blend, you’ll see your “Taste Match Score,” which shows how closely your music preferences align with your friend's. However, even people with similar tastes might end up with surprising—or even odd—playlists.
I tested the feature by creating a Blend with my partner. According to Spotify, we have a 73 percent Taste Match Score, which makes sense since we are both metalheads (we actually met in a mosh pit).
Despite the 27 percent difference, we ended up with a diverse playlist that mixes our favorite death metal and hardcore punk bands with artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Run the Jewels, and video game soundtracks.
If you end up with a mix that doesn’t quite work for you, both users can favorite or hide songs from their own Blend without impacting the other person's playlist. But the chance of getting a quirky playlist is part of Blend's charm: it lets you explore how your musical tastes compare with those of your friends and family while sharing new tunes with each other.
How to create a Blend with someone on Spotify
Launch Spotify and go to the “Search” tab.
Scroll down and select “Made for You.”
Tap on “Create a Blend.”
Pick a friend to blend with. If you haven’t connected with any friends yet, tap “invite” to send the Blend link through messaging, email, or social media.
Your friend must accept the invitation to start the Blend. You’ll be notified in-app and via push notification once the playlist is ready. You can also tap “Share this Story” to post the playlist on other social platforms.
Access your Blends anytime through the Library tab.
