Guess who's back with another review? This time, I'm sharing what I believe to be my most unexpected and truly satisfying product discovery yet. You might wonder why? The product I'm talking about? ChapStick's Total Hydration Moisture + Tint in the shade Rose Petal. It's currently just $3.97 on Amazon, making it an absolute steal.
If you're someone who carries ChapStick with you every day, you might be wondering why this is such a surprise for me. The truth is, up until I received this lip product in a mailer with every shade, I had never considered adding ChapStick to my daily routine.
Why was I so skeptical? Two reasons:
First, for years, I thought ChapStick was the enemy of good lip care due to its inclusion of petrolatum. While it traps moisture, it also blocks it, which some dermatologists claim makes ChapStick addictive. It provides immediate hydration, but over time, it can leave lips feeling even drier unless you reapply constantly.
Second, I'll admit, I was kind of snobby about it. I couldn’t imagine that a $4 ChapStick tinted balm could even compare to my $38 Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick Balm.
So when I opened the mailer, I immediately thought of my mom and sister, both loyal ChapStick users. I tossed all the tubes in a bag for them and kept the Rose Petal shade, thinking I should at least give it a shot. (I get a lot of samples — there's no way I can try every👏 single one 👏. Don’t @ me.)
And y'all, I’m so glad I did. This tinted lip balm blew me away. It’s hydrating, gives my lips a dewy look, and adds a natural rosy tint that no other tinted balm has matched.
Often, pink-tinted balms are either too pale or too bright, either making my skin look washed out or giving me a bold lipstick effect. My lips look rosier, dewier, and just a touch plumper — everything I want in a lip balm.

Instead, it’s packed with sunflower seed oil, jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, and beeswax. Plus, it also includes olive oil, rosehip seed oil, and raspberry seed oil. No wonder it gives such a natural finish. It’s one of ChapStick's more natural formulas.
