Garage sales provide an excellent way to declutter and earn some quick money. However, with a few simple strategies, you can boost your earnings even more. One idea is to skip the price tags and let buyers negotiate a higher price.
Lynda Hammond from GarageSaleGal shares her advice with Today.com:
Oftentimes, you can earn more if you don’t price your items. For instance, you might have an old cookie jar you’re willing to sell for just a dollar. But the buyer might have been looking for it and could offer a higher amount.
This tip was a surprise to me. I always assumed that people would hesitate to purchase something without a price tag. But Hammond makes a solid point, especially for higher-value items, as it could allow the buyer to propose the first price. Also, I’ve never been particularly good at garage sales.
