Countless tragic tales circulate about pet owners misplacing their beloved animals. While some dogs and cats might return home on their own, others aren’t as fortunate. Tractive, known for its GPS and wellness trackers for pets, aims to alleviate these concerns with its latest release.
According to Dogster, the DOG 6 was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this January. It’s crafted to be worn comfortably around your dog’s neck, ensuring you can monitor their location effortlessly.
The DOG 6 features live GPS tracking, offering continuous updates (through the app on Android 9.0 or later and iOS 16 or later) about your pet’s location. You’ll get alerts if your dog strays from a safe area or enters a restricted zone. Additionally, the device stores your pet’s preferred locations and previous routes in its history.
What makes this product unique among GPS trackers is its bark monitoring feature. It notifies you if your dog barks excessively in your absence, potentially signaling behavioral problems such as separation anxiety. You can track changes in your pet’s behavior, activity levels, and sleep patterns directly from your phone. According to Dogster, Tractive plans to introduce heart and respiratory rate monitoring later this year, enabling owners to measure resting vitals and compare them to their dog’s baseline and those of similar breeds.
The DOG 6 comes packed with additional functionalities. It supports USB-C charging, includes LED lights, and is available in three color options: black, brown, and mint. Designed for dogs weighing at least 9 pounds, Tractive recommends the DOG XL or DOG XL Adventure for larger breeds over 50 pounds.
Priced at $70 (excluding shipping and taxes), the DOG 6 also requires a monthly subscription starting at $5.
