Kris Holman; Design by Margie KaercherMargie Kaercher, founder of Hearth & Honey Homes, predicts that rich, dark greens will dominate in 2025. “Since the pandemic, there’s been a surge in demand for nature-inspired spaces that evoke comfort, tranquility, and wellness. Deep greens perfectly capture this essence,” she explains. “As homeowners grow bolder in their design preferences, once-daring shades are now celebrated as elegant expressions of sophistication and individuality.” Kaercher suggests enveloping a room in deep green for a lavish, cocoon-like ambiance. She recommends incorporating natural wood tones and diverse textures to enhance depth and interest.
Browns, Rusty Reds, and Terracottas
Gisele Parra Photography; Design by Callie BlanksCallie Blanks has observed the rise of these shades and predicts their growing influence. “These colors are being applied in daring and unconventional ways,” says the founder of Callie Blanks Interiors, highlighting color-drenching as a prime example.
For a color-drenched room, Blanks suggests incorporating light, natural linen in curtains or bedding. “This softens the overall look, making it feel less severe or overly modern,” she explains.
When it comes to furniture and decor, she leans toward neutral tones but introduces intrigue through unique shapes and textures. Alternatively, she notes that embracing a monochromatic scheme can create a dramatic or romantic atmosphere. “I adore the idea of pairing dark walls with bedding or furniture in a similar hue,” she says. “Slightly varying the shade prevents the space from feeling monotonous.”
Yellow
Recently, Meghan Jay’s clients have shared her enthusiasm for incorporating yellow into their homes. Jay, the founder of Meghan Jay Design, praises Farrow & Ball's Dorset Cream as “the ideal shade.” She notes, “It strikes the perfect balance—neither too bold nor too citrusy. It’s understated yet infuses a space with warmth.” Jay acknowledges that not everyone is ready to fully commit to yellow, so she suggests subtle touches. “A yellow table lamp adds energy and whimsy to a room,” she explains. “A goldenrod throw blanket at the foot of the bed introduces warmth and an element of surprise.”
Bright Reds
Jay anticipates a surge in the use of vibrant reds in 2025. “A pop of red injects life and excitement into a space,” she remarks. For a recent powder room project, she proposed painting the trim red. “This highlights the crown molding’s details and gives the small bathroom a playful, unexpected vibe,” she says. “It’s like pairing a classic black-and-white outfit with red shoes—it grabs attention and leaves a lasting impression.”
Limewash Greens
Design and photo by Taylor FuscoTaylor Fusco, founder of Tay Fusco Design, notes a growing demand for organic-looking paint colors, with green limewash and Roman clay being particularly popular. “We expect 2025 to showcase a wide range of stunning green tones,” she says, highlighting Sherwin-Williams' Evergreen Fog and Benjamin Moore's Scenic Drive as standout choices.
Regardless of the green shade, Fusco enhances the look by layering complementary elements. “Light oak furniture adds a beautiful contrast,” she explains. “Blush or pink tones are also a perfect pairing. Together, these colors create a harmonious and striking effect.”
