Hey there! I’m probably one of the most dedicated Mytour readers who hasn’t created a Kinja account yet. But that’s about to change—today is the day it ends!
I’m your fresh face for the Two Cents personal finance section. Before this, I was a senior writer at The Penny Hoarder, where I wrote a weekly financial advice column featured in the Tampa Bay Times. I’ve also spent countless hours captivated by the psychology behind money, the ever-evolving fight for dominance in e-commerce, and whatever marketing stunt Domino’s dreamed up to make me spend more (and, unsurprisingly, it worked every time).
Outside of my writing, I co-host a podcast that dives into fashion, retail, and culture. Sure, I do that at a desk too, but it’s in my closet—because if you thought podcasting was glamorous and highly profitable, you’ve been misinformed.
Whenever I step outside my apartment, I spend a lot of time at the beach. Occasionally, I also participate in a shuffleboard league at that spot you might have read about. After nearly three years in Florida, I’m really embracing the lifestyle.
When it comes to finances, I believe improving your financial situation is a lifelong process. I could share how I’ve worked my way out of debt, but then I’d also have to tell you about the lingering debts and the new ones that have popped up recently.
The goalposts keep shifting. You make mistakes, learn a few lessons, and try again. And that’s exactly what I do.
I’m not here to make you feel guilty about past mistakes, whether it’s trying to make more money, save more, or perfect your budget once and for all. What I *am* here for is to guide you through manageable tricks to make handling your finances easier, while also diving into bigger issues that impact our financial lives.
Tell me something.
As I settle in, I’d love to know two things from you:
1. What’s the best financial decision you’ve made so far in 2019?
2. What’s one financial question or challenge you’d love to see addressed here on Two Cents?
Share your thoughts in the comments—I’m excited to connect with all of you in the Kinjaverse*. Feel free to reach out to my inbox: [email protected]. You can also find me online @lisatella.
*Do not challenge me about Domino’s Pizza.
