While it may raise ethical questions, even in a fictional setting, there have been numerous instances where audiences celebrated the gruesome demise of a Game of Thrones character. From the despicable King Joffrey to the cruel Ser Meryn Trant, many figures across the show's seven seasons met their deserved end. Yet, for every gratifying death, there was one that left viewers heartbroken.
A prime example: The tragic loss of the cherished Hodor. In what is arguably one of the most heart-wrenching moments since the Red Wedding, the gentle giant gave his life by holding the door shut to save Bran Stark from the Army of the Undead.
Hodor would undoubtedly rank high among characters fans wish to see brought back, much like Jon Snow. A new fan theory gaining traction on Reddit suggests the giant might make a comeback in the final season. However, his return would not be as the loyal servant we once adored.
Reddit users have highlighted that Hodor met his end at the hands of Wights while holding the very door he had spoken about for years. Yet, the fate of Hodor's body after that moment remains a mystery.
Building on Samwell Tarly’s statement that "Only fire will stop them," and considering Hodor was likely not cremated, fans speculate he might return—but as a Wight. As one of the blue-eyed undead, he could end up fighting against the Starks in the battle for Westeros.

While the thought of Hodor returning is appealing, the notion of him turning against the Starks is deeply unsettling. However, such a tragic twist is precisely the kind of shocking move showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are known for, so anything is possible.
