Professional Experience
Keydra earned her degree from CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, focusing on forensic psychology. Her journalism journey began at the New York Amsterdam News, one of the nation’s oldest African American newspapers. Her dedication to journalism led her to the arts and culture program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. During her final year of graduate studies, Keydra interned with NBC Universal and Consumer Reports.
Keydra took on the role of entertainment editor at The Tylt in 2018. Two years later, she joined theGrio as a staff writer, where she conducted in-depth research, writing, and editing stories that explored the intersection of race, popular culture, and the arts. Her work has also led to appearances on the WVON Morning Show in Chicago and speaking opportunities at panels, including those organized by Ad Week.
In August 2022, Keydra became the senior editor at Mytour, where she brings her expertise in pop culture to the magazine’s pet, travel, entrepreneurial, and personal essay sections.
