A while ago, my friends and I stumbled upon the dice game Quixx. If you haven't played yet, I definitely recommend it! You roll different colored dice and mark off numbers on your score sheet depending on the total you roll.
While that’s a simple explanation, the key point for this post is that every player needs a fresh score sheet each round. If you’re playing regularly—like weekly at your local bar—you’ll run through the supplied score pads quickly.
After visiting a board game bar during the holidays, my friend Randel came up with a brilliant idea to reduce waste and ensure we always had enough score sheets: laminating them.
It’s a straightforward solution, yet one we hadn’t thought of until that moment.
She bought these self-sealing pouches from Amazon. A pack of five costs about $4, which is quite affordable, though you might need extra packs if you're playing with more than five players, or larger pouches if your scorecards are bigger.

You’ll also want to get some dry-erase markers for marking up the score sheets.
However, for games that use disposable paper scorecards regularly, this is a worthwhile investment. We used to order replacement score sheets, but they were hard to find locally, so we'd get them shipped in wasteful packaging, which eventually contributed to more trash. Not ideal.

Depending on how large your score sheet is, you may not even need the pouches. We’ve previously mentioned using packing tape to laminate items, which could be a good alternative for smaller score sheets. If you have access to a laminator at work or a nearby store, that’s an even better option.
In the long run, laminating your scorecards reduces waste, which is great for the environment. Plus, with laminated cards, you'll always have score sheets available and won’t have to worry about running out or forgetting to reorder them when you’re low.
