Publications International, Ltd.Whether you call it a wildflower or a weed, this cheerful flower is quite unique. A daisy closes its petals at night and reopens in the morning. Isn't that special?
In this section, we will guide you through drawing the daisy shown above. You can either sketch it freehand while looking at your screen or print this page for a closer view of each step.
Follow the red lines in each illustration to see exactly what to draw at each stage. The lines from earlier steps are shown in gray. We'll provide an illustration for every step, along with a detailed description on how to recreate it.
1. Draw Circles

Begin by lightly sketching circles to represent the positions of two of the daisy flowers. For the third flower, which will face slightly to the right, draw a light oval shape. Add a small oval in the center of each flower.
Gently sketch the stems by drawing lines that curve downward from each flower. Use shorter, curved lines to indicate where the leaves will appear.
2. Add Petals and Leaves

For the petals, draw long, U-shaped curves. Some of the petal lines should start and end at the center circle, while others will appear behind the existing petals.
The lines for these petals should meet with the lines of the first set of petals. Draw long U-shaped lines to represent the leaves.
3. Finalize the Stems

Refine the ends of the petals by adding small bumps at their tips. Adjust the centers to make the ovals bumpy, creating the appearance of tufted centers.
Modify the leaves so that the larger ones feature irregular indentations. Complete the stems by drawing two sets of parallel, curving lines.
4. Add Ridges to the Petals

Draw small circles in the lower part of each flower's center. Show ridges on each petal by adding two parallel lines down the middle. Add a line down the center of each leaf to represent the vein.
5. Add Shading and Fine Details

Dot the centers of each flower to add texture. Use fine lines to shade the petals at their centers and tips.
Shade the leaves with delicate lines at their tips. Darken one side of each stem with multiple short strokes.
