Amidst the crashing ocean waves and sandy shores, this lighthouse stands tall to guide vessels through the night. Follow our straightforward instructions to master the art of drawing it.
In this section, we’ll guide you step by step to draw the lighthouse. You can sketch it freehand by referencing your screen or print this page for a closer look at each stage.
We’ll provide an illustration for each step, followed by instructions on how to recreate it. Follow the red lines in the illustrations to understand exactly what to draw. The lines from previous steps are shown in gray.
1. Shape the Cylinder and Box
Draw a cylinder in the middle of your paper and a 3D box to its right. Add a horizontal line at the bottom to represent the ground.
2. Roof and Surroundings
Draw a double roof on top of the cylinder and add curved lines as shown. Then, create a slanted roof for the small house and draw rectangles for the windows. For each window, draw two vertical lines for the shutters.
Sketch the door as an incomplete rectangle. Draw irregular ovals for the rocks and a wavy line for the trees in the far-off background.
3. Adding Doors and Windows
Sketch the lighthouse door. Complete both doors and the two windows with plus signs and double lines. Don’t forget to add doorknobs. Draw one small and one larger rectangle on the lighthouse for windows.
Draw vertical lines for the railing. Add double vertical lines and a bell-shaped figure at the top of the lighthouse. Use a wavy line to represent the waves.
4. Final Touches and Shading
Shade the roof of the lighthouse using crisscross patterns. Add diagonal lines to represent the glass at the top of the lighthouse. Define the railing with bold black lines. Add shading to the windows. Create texture on the roof and shutters of the house with horizontal lines. Shade the rocks and the water.
