Access to COVID-19 vaccines has become more convenient. Recently, all adults in the U.S. have become eligible to schedule vaccine appointments, regardless of their state of residence. Additionally, numerous pharmacy chains are now providing walk-in and same-day vaccination services at most of their locations.
President Biden revealed this week that pharmacies receiving vaccines from the federal government must begin accepting walk-in appointments. Thousands of pharmacies, including major chains, are part of this initiative. You can find a comprehensive list here, featuring CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Albertsons (including Safeway), Rite Aid, Kroger, Costco, H-E-B, Publix, Topco, and others.
While not every location will provide walk-in services daily, checking your local pharmacy’s availability might reveal walk-in options. Some pharmacies also offer same-day or even immediate appointments, making it increasingly feasible for individuals to receive the vaccine on short notice.
Several chains have independently announced their initiatives:
CVS provides walk-in services at “select locations,” which reportedly include 8,300 out of their 9,900 sites.
Walgreens now facilitates same-day appointments across all pharmacies and walk-ins at specific locations.
All Walmart and Sam’s Club locations now accept walk-ins. (A Sam’s Club membership is not necessary to receive a vaccine.) Appointments can also be scheduled.
To locate a walk-in site nearby, review each pharmacy’s details. The federal program also encompasses independent pharmacies and smaller chains. State-operated clinics frequently provide walk-in options, so verify local availability. Obtaining a vaccine might be more straightforward than anticipated.
