This robust and reliable pickup truck is capable of hauling almost anything. Follow our step-by-step instructions below to master drawing this versatile vehicle.
In this segment, we’ll guide you through sketching this pickup truck. You can either draw freehand while referencing your screen or print this page for a detailed view of each step.
We’ll provide an illustration for each step, accompanied by a detailed description of how to execute it. Pay attention to the red lines in each image to understand what to draw next. Previously drawn lines will appear in gray for reference.
1. Sketch the Basic Shape

Start by drawing an elongated rectangle for the truck's main body, placing two overlapping circles at each end to represent the wheels. Above the left section of the rectangle, create the cab using a smaller rectangle with a slanted left edge.
2. Add Wheels and Bumpers

For each wheel, draw a smaller circle inside a larger one, both nested within the tire. Above each tire, sketch a shape resembling an inverted bowl to form the wheel well.
Connect a U-shaped figure to the front wheel well to create the front bumper. For the rear, attach a backward L-shaped figure to the wheel, forming the lower and rear sections of the truck, and add a cuplike bumper. Use a curved line to outline the front hood.
3. Windows and Hubcaps

Create the driver's-side window by drawing a rectangle with a slanted left edge, enclosing an irregular oval shape for the sideview mirror. Construct the door handle by connecting two slender rectangles.
For the windshield, sketch a straight line slanted similarly to the driver's-side window. Add short lines at the top and bottom to form a narrow triangle. Below the front bumper, draw an air dam resembling a sideways check mark. Inside each wheel, include five half circles for the hubcaps.
4. Doors and Molding

At the front of the truck, draw two connected squares to represent the headlights. Frame them with trim shaped like an inverted L attached to a straight line with a curved end. Add a curved line above each wheel to form the fender.
Create the door using a rectangle with a curved left edge and no top. Behind the door, draw a vertical line to divide the cab from the cargo bed. Near the top of this line, sketch a horizontal line extending to the rear of the truck, just below the cargo bed's top edge. Use an L-shaped figure to form the taillight.
Add side moldings by drawing two parallel lines running from the front to the back of the truck. Connect these lines at the rear and extend the top line to the truck's end. Inside the rear bumper, place a short straight line. For the gas cap, sketch a small circle between the door and the rear wheel.
5. Finalize the Details

Include the top of the steering wheel and the stick shift positioned on the steering column.
Darken the steering wheel, wheel wells, side moldings, the air dam beneath the front bumper, and the interior of the window. Shade the upper half of the door handle, the tops of the front and rear bumpers, and the five half circles inside each wheel. Inside the taillight, draw a thick, staple-like shape.
Continue practicing until your drawing meets your satisfaction. Now that you've mastered drawing a pickup truck, why not challenge yourself with something bigger? Semi-trucks are designed to transport goods over long distances. Discover how to draw a semi-truck in the following section.
