It turns out a lot of people enjoy getting their fitness on with farm animals. From goat yoga, a farm twist on the popular cat yoga trend, to a new offering in Canada where you can dance with alpacas, as reported by Travel + Leisure.
This summer, Anola, Manitoba's 313 Farms unveiled its AlpacaZone Dance and Fitness classes, which include hip-hop, barre, pilates, and cardio sessions over six weekends for all ages.
Unfortunately, the alpacas won't be showing you the dance moves. But the classes take place outside with the friendly alpacas, who are free to wander through your routines at any given moment. Forget water breaks; it's all about an alpaca-petting intermission. After class, there’s a chance to meet the animals, with one particularly affectionate alpaca loving kisses.
Courtesy of 313 FarmsAnn Patman, the owner of 313 Farms, shared with Travel + Leisure that the idea for the alpaca dance classes came to her after a nearby farm began offering a popular goat yoga series. Patman, a Detroit native who named her farm after her hometown's area code, previously worked at a dance studio.
Classes like the hip-hop-themed “Poppin’ Pacas” and the “Barn Barre” are available for just $10 if you sign up early, or $15 on the day of the event. The AlpacaZone classes wrap up on August 19, though there may be more sessions due to overwhelming interest. Looks like it’s time for an alpaca-fueled fitness adventure to rural Canada.
