The Adidas Defender is my top pick for a gym bag, and if you missed out on the previous sale, take another look because it remains one of the best (and most budget-friendly!) options. It comes in various sizes, and I personally own the Small, which is available today for just $31.50 in black. Other sizes like the Medium, priced at $31.42 in black, or the Large, at $45.69 in blue, are also offered. While these prices aren't as low as during Black Friday or Cyber Monday, they still beat the regular price by a significant margin.
I’m serious when I say this is my absolute favorite gym bag. I purchased it five years ago, almost exactly today. I've used it nearly every day since, and it's still in excellent condition. (The only issue is a purple ink stain I accidentally spilled in one of the inside pockets, but I managed to clean up almost all of it.)
This is my go-to gym bag, and here’s what I typically carry inside:
- In the side pocket with a mesh panel, you'll find a pair of Nike Romaleo 3 weightlifting shoes.
The other side pocket is filled with a variety of snacks and electrolytes, including a sack of fun-size Sour Patch kids to share with friends.
Also in the main compartment, inside the belt, are two pairs of knee sleeves, two knee wraps, a resistance band for my shoulder warm-up, a water bottle, a training journal, and likely a dozen other things I’ve forgotten about—but they’re there when I need them (if I can find them). (UPDATE: I found a lost phone battery in the bottom of my bag today, but the water bottle is still missing. Stay tuned for more developments.)
If you're planning to use these duffel bags as your travel companion, you might want to consider adding some packing cubes. I highly recommend a two-pack of the U+U clean/dirty packing cubes, which are also on sale today. Each cube has a zipper on the back to separate your dirty laundry for the return trip (so the two-pack gives two people each a space for both clean and dirty clothes—or one person can use a cube for their gym bag and the other for their suitcase, which is what I do).
