For those who grew up in the '80s and '90s, nothing was more iconic than flaunting a vibrant Trapper Keeper, a stylish binder that allowed you to express your individuality.
Interestingly, Trapper Keepers are still around, though they’re not as common as they were in previous decades. However, this might soon change, as ACCO (the manufacturer of Trapper Keepers) has teamed up with board game company Big G Creative to reintroduce this classic school supply to a modern audience—and their parents—through a card game aptly named the Trapper Keeper Game.
According to a press release, "The game tasks players with outsmarting their opponents by gathering high-value cards and securing them in their Trapper Keeper® folders. The cards feature items like homework assignments, quizzes, parent signatures, report cards, detention notices, notes from classmates, and field trip passes. Once the final bell card is played by the designated Teacher’s Pet, players count their doodles and points to determine the champion."
The game’s components are neatly stored inside a genuine Trapper Keeper, offering parents a delightful trip down memory lane. "The authentic Trapper Keeper® included with the game serves as a nostalgic conversation starter, allowing families to reminisce about their school days," said Shannon Swindle, Big G Creative's product and communications manager, in a press release.
Designed for two to five players aged 8 and above, the game can be completed in just 25 minutes and is sold exclusively at Target stores across the country. It comes in three vibrant designs—rainbow unicorn, palm tree sunset, and psychedelic outer space—and includes 81 school paper cards, 11 bell cards, five mini Trapper Keeper folders, a teacher’s pet marker, a score pad, and a pencil.
For adults, it’s a perfect way to revisit the past without enduring the awkwardness and challenges of teenage life.
